We're Building Better Supplier Relationships

Supplier Expectations

Purchasing at Lowe's is divided into two categories: (1) Merchandising, which is the purchase of product for retail sales, and (2) Procurement, which is the purchase of product and services for internal use.

Here's the process for registering as a new supplier in these categories:

  • Read all the information regarding Supplier Registration and Supplier Diversity on this website, becoming familiar with the requirements for qualification.
  • Complete the attached electronic registration form. In the registration process, please be specific and detailed in the description of the product(s) and/or service(s) offered. This will ensure our proper evaluation of your company.

The resulting registration will be cataloged and forwarded to the appropriate Merchandiser or Sourcing Agent for review.

Lowe’s conducts reviews for Merchandising categories generally on an annual basis. For Procurement, we review categories as the expiration date of the agreement approaches on our two- or three-year contracts. In preparation for either of these review processes, a determination about your product or service will be made. Should Lowe’s have an interest in your particular product or service, you will be contacted to provide additional information.

Following are some key Lowe's requirements for suppliers to consider:

  • The ability to sign a legally binding contract with Lowe’s.
  • Financial resources or the ability to raise adequate capital to properly fulfill Lowe’s requirements.
  • Proper levels of insurance to conduct business with Lowe’s.
  • Electronic communication of business documents between your company and Lowe’s.

Application Process

Supplier Registration is available online.

Upon acceptance into our Supplier Diversity program, your firm will be added to our M/W/D supplier database. Many of our business applications will require additional certifications or a bidding process. For example, certain retail product applications or a Request for Proposal (RFP) require UL certification. And there is a bid process for some supplies or services. Our Supplier Diversity Team will be your liaison and will you guide through the channels to achieve a mutually beneficial business partnership.

If our Supplier Diversity Team determines that your firm needs further development to qualify for a Lowe's Vendor relationship, we will partner with our National Minority Supplier Development Council affiliates. Together, we will help mentor and develop your firm to re-apply for program participation.

Diverse Business Entities who need additional information on becoming a partner may contact our Supplier Diversity Team by e-mailing SupplierDiversity@Lowes.com.
